First stretch of ‘Aggie Expressway’ toll road opens SaturdayHouston Chronicle ~ August 6, 2020
MAGNOLIA – The first segment of the planned Pinehurst-to-Todd Mission toll road opens Saturday, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. The 6.4 mile stretch from FM 1774 to FM 1488 in Magnolia will be free to use for at least a few weeks and includes three main lanes in each direction before tapering to two lanes east of FM 149.
For residents in Magnolia, where billboards advertise new subdivisions on a rotating basis, it means faster trips to and from Tomball and other spots around northwest Harris County and southern Montgomery County. Read Full Article Here
Hwy. 249 Main Lanes to Open in Magnolia by SummerCommunity Impact News ~ January 7, 2020
MAGNOLIA – Greater Magnolia-area residents will gain easier access to the region and see a spike in economic development this year as they see the first Montgomery County main lanes of the long-awaited Hwy. 249 extension project open as early as February, local transportation officials said.
The Harris and Montgomery county toll road authorities have been working with the Texas Department of Transportation since 2017 to extend the Tomball Tollway—the tolled portion of Hwy. 249—from FM 2920 in Tomball to FM 1774 in Todd Mission with a non-tolled segment to Hwy. 105 in Navasota, Community Impact Newspaper previously reported. MAGNOLIA – A new subdivision called Magnolia Reserve is in the works.
Magnolia Reserve, LLC President Chris Wren said it will have 225 half-acre lots, family-oriented amenities, and full utilities without any MUD taxes.
The first section is almost complete, and the first builder, Terrata Homes, has closed lots and started construction on a model home and five spec homes.
It's located off FM 149, two miles north of FM 1488 and Magnolia High School.
